Canadian and World Politics Blog

Page history last edited by Sheridan Hay 15 years, 1 month ago

One of the assignments for this course is to post a number of blog entries on current events that involve politics.  Your blog entry should contain:

(i) a link to the article, blog, video, or editorial being discussed and

(ii) a reflection on how the event being dicussed relates to politics as well as your own opinion of what is being said.  It might also be a good idea to post questions that are raised in the source you are citing on your blog.  You might be disagreeing with an editorial, discussing how an issue is political, reflecting on where the law or policy being discussed fits on the poltiical spectrum, or how a paticular event might impact our city, country, or part of the world.  While it might be tempting to take strong positions for or against particular political parties, try to be as objective an observer as possible in your reflections.  You are political scientist, not a politician.

I will post a few samples to give you an idea of what to include in your blogs and will include questions that you can comment on as well.

By the end of the course, you should have at least 10 posts on the blog:

2 posts relating to local (municipal) issues

2 posts relating to provincial issues

3 posts relating to national issues

3 posts relating to international issues (at least one should involve Canada)

Aim to complete at least one per week so that you are not rushing to complete all ten at the end of the course.

The blog entries will be worth 20% of the final mark.
